I got this book for my husband who read the book in two days and has re read it since. He enjoyed it; fast reading and good tips, he said. If he’s happy, I am happy.[yahooquestion]poker+books[/yahooquestion]

One of the mainstays of online gambling for years has been the game of poker. Poker, most notably played in the Texas Hold 'Em form, is a staple of casinos, both online and off, and is a game growing in popularity by the year. But many still do not know how to play the game. For those looking to learn, Free Poker Books offers a valuable resource on useful books to read.

The service that the site offers is giving free poker books to those who sign up at specific online poker sites and use a code given by the site. What this means is that if you are new to the online crowd and plan on putting money into an online casino, you can get a free book by using one of Free Poker Book partner sites. Given that one of the poker sites that can be used poker books is Full Tilt Poker, a major player in the business that has a large number of famous poker player sponsors, it is safe to say that these partner sites can be trusted. Additionally, Cardoza Poker is another website that can be well-trusted.

Poker books can often retail for twenty to thirty bucks each. Poker sites usually only require a minimum deposit of twenty-five dollars and offer generous bonuses on top of that amount. This means that you break even by getting a free book of equal value to the money you put into a poker site. And as an added bonus, you still get to gamble and win more money online.

An additional perk to using Free Poker Books is the terrific layout that the site uses. Unlike other sites that offer deals for various online casinos, Free Poker Books has a very sleek and good-looking exterior, void of any bulky advertisements that no visitor wants to see.

The only real problem anyone could have with this site are the lack of book reviews in the blog section. Only three total reviews have been written thus far. While these books are presumably the ones being offered for free, it would still be useful and nice to see other poker books get brief reviews.

Overall, Free Poker Books is a very nicely-made site that has a simple service. Anyone looking to put more money into an online poker site should visit the site and get themselves a free book for doing next to nothing. Get free poker books by signing up for accounts at sites like Cardoza Poker!

I just finished reading this book and it was cool one to read, it’s not educational as many people would think, it’s all personal stories told by Pro Poker players, I wouldn’t say that it’s a book to keep in your library but it’s worth reading it and it will probably take you couple days to finish it!

Good book, easy read. It really shows the work ethic and perseverance for some of today’s poker stars. No strategy in this one….only entertainment.

Ok, I wasn’t sure about buying a book with alot of mini-biographies but I was sure glad I did. No, it doesn’t have alot of strategies and odds, but for all of you budding Poker-Pro’s who wonder if all of these folks just fell into money and luck, it is a great read. I always wondered what the wealthiest and most successful poker players did before they “made-it” and the roads they followed to “make-it”. There are definately some biographies that are more interesting than others and some that you wish would have told you more. I don’t want to sway your opinions before you read them, however there are a few that I wish would write their own book. It would be a great read. You would not believe some of the jobs that some of the pro’s had before they became professional poker players. Have fun and good luck……

A lot of poker books these days are printed on thin, low-quality paper. There’s nothing wrong with that, since with many of them you get a lot of good textual content for a low price. This book is different. The paper is high-quality, the printing is in color, and there are many photographs throughout. There is plenty of text, though the details on each player are certainly short of in-depth biographies. However, it seems like a real bargain: beautifully done details on twenty of the greatest players of our time, in a fairly fancy book, for less than twenty bucks. How far wrong can you go?

The personalities range from 76-year-old Doyle Brunson to under-25ers like Tom “Durrr” Dwan and Peter Eastgate, recent world champ. Also included are Johnny Chan, Daniel Negreanu, Annie Duke (take that, Joan Rivers!), Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Jennifer Harman, and many more. Too bad they didn’t interview David “Chip” Reese before his untimely passing.

I hope they make a second volume! Here are a few suggestions of whom to include, if they do: Gus Hansen, Joe Hachem, Huck Seed, Barry Greenstein, Erick Lindgren, Dan Harrington, Patrik Antonius, Ted Forrest, John Juanda, Gavin Smith, Mike Matasow (though he has his own new autobiograhy out), Men “The Master” Nguyen, Antonio Esfandiari, Tom McEvoy, T.J. Cloutier, and Freddy Deeb.

Anyway, this (Volume 1?) has to be the best collection of poker pros’ personal stories ever collected into an affordable, colorful book. It’s hard to imagine being a fan of the game and not owning this one.

Gives an interesting background to people I have watched play in the World Series Of Poker.

This book was purchased as a gift for someone who requested it. It arrived quickly, even during the Christmas season. It was in VERY GOOD condition and I saved a large amount of money by buying it used instead of brand new. I would do it again and recommend this type of purchase to anyone.

My middle son is a poker buff. He has several books now on how to play the game. This is the one he wanted for Christmas. I don’t play or understand the game myself so I could not rate this book properly.
